
ANNOUNCEMENT: Socialist Nathalie Hrizi announces 2022 campaign for California State Insurance Commissioner!
Nathalie Hrizi is officially announcing her run for California’s State Insurance Commissioner as the Peace and Freedom Party candidate. Hrizi is a long-time organizer with deep roots in the San Francisco community and has a long legacy in community and anti-war organizing. She is currently the vice-president for substitutes in the United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) union.
Hrizi has been a dedicated fighter for the working class in San Francisco, where she joined community members in demanding equitable and just housing, education and against the ills of racism and police brutality for more than two decades. Hrizi has also dedicated herself to the struggle of reproductive rights and has relentlessly organized against the attacks on reproductive rights of women across the country and is dedicated to the full rights of women. She is also the editor-in-chief of the women’s magazine, Breaking the Chains.
“I am running for Health Insurance Commissioner because working people in California deserve free high quality healthcare. I call for abolishing the insurance companies and replacing them with a single-payer system,” Hrizi stated.
Hrizi received 5.2% of the state vote for Insurance Commissioner in 2018, and 9.9% in San Francisco.
She is running in 2022 as part of a state-wide Left Unity Slate composed of candidates from the Peace and Freedom and Green parties. Her campaign is also endorsed by the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
